New Futures is an alternative school located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. New Futures is available to all pregnant and parenting students in the Albuquerque Public School District. Enrollment at New Futures is voluntary and registration is held every nine weeks during the school year. Proof of pregnancy and/or parenting must be provided upon enrollment. The school was designed and built in 1988 to provide small classes and many support services to help students be successful in school and life. The program itself is over thirty years old. Classrooms, clinics, child-care centers, and work opportunities are all located on the campus. Support services are available both during and after school hours.
We have a highly qualified staff who support students and their children:
- The student/teacher ratio is 16 to 1
- The
staff of 70 includes:
- 23 certified instructors
- a nurse
- a childcare director
- two administrators
- counselors
- social workers
- a community therapist
- educational assistants
- full time ESL and Special Education support personnel.
Students may graduate from middle school or high school at New Futures. While attending New Futures they may also earn community college credit through specialized classes that also help with parenting skills. Our emphasis is on helping students become better students, adults, and parents. We are dedicated to encouraging responsible parenting decisions and productive adult lives.
